When my 10 year old niece came home from school with an assignment to write a travel piece, I immediately succumbed to nepotism and invited her to post her work here on The Crime Traveller’s blogHave a read of Samara Black’s take on a visit to one of my favorite Caribbean destinations, the incredible Atlantis mega-resort on Paradise Island, in the Bahamas.

No matter how old you are Atlantis is the place for you.  I just got back from a vacation there with my family and grandparents. This included my grandparents in their 60s, my parents in their late 30s, and my siblings who are 7, 5, and 3 years old. And every one of us loved it!

At Atlantis there are a number of places to stay including: Royal Towers, Coral Towers, Beach Tower, The Cove, The Reef, and the place I stayed at: Harborside Resort. My family of six stayed in a two-bedroom suite with a pull-out couch. Just make sure to ask for you room to be overlooking the ocean. You can choose where to stay depending on if there’s an area you want to be close to or how much money you want to spend. Our hotel was at one end of the resort and we had to take a shuttle to get to the other hotels.  If I could go back to Atlantis I would like to stay at the Beach Tower because it was near the pool I liked.

Atlantis is very well known for its attractions. Some attractions include the many swimming pools, the lazy river, the rapid river (The Current), the multiple water slides for both short and tall people. Dolphin Cay is where you can swim with either dolphins or sea lions. And for kids who want to go on their own adventures with other kids Atlantis has a kids club. And for kids aged 13-17 Atlantis even has something for you: CRUSH the ultimate teen nightclub.

One of my favorite parts of Atlantis was the food. Atlantis has many restaurants, snack bars, ice cream bars, and buffets. My personal favorite is the Marketplace. The Marketplace is a buffet with every type of food imaginable. They even have sushi!

Paradise Island is home to Atlantis and many other hotels. Paradise island is an island in the Bahamas. To get to Paradise Island you have to fly to Nassau (Bahamas). From the airport take a bus over the bridge to Paradise Island. The sun in the Bahamas is very strong so be sure to pack sunscreen.

Wow, Samara! Your travel guide is fabulous, informative, and gorgeous! After reading your blog post, I’m tempted on this chilly morning to hop on a plane bound for Paradise Island! (If I’m not at school tomorrow morning, you’ll know why!) Can we show the rest of 5D?

It figures my niece, Samara, generates more reader interest and comments with her debut travel blog than I usually get/ 😉

Kudos to you Sami! Soon you’ll be running the whole show and I’ll be out of a gig!
