Welcome to my travel blog…a welcome diversion from my often hectic days in criminal courthouses across Ontario where I practice my ‘day job’ (and frequent ‘night job’) as a criminal defence lawyer in the partnership of Adler Bytensky Prutschi.

About a year ago, an advertisement calling for travel writers in a new publication caught my eye. The magazine had cast an open invite to professionals and amateurs alike. I contacted the editor and by pure fortuitous happenstance, learned that their upcoming issue would be featuring a large spread on Costa Rica — a destination I had just returned from and was eager to write about. A few e-mails back and forth and next thing I knew, I was assigned to the story.

This spark drove me to expand upon my passion for travel writing and combine that with a burgeoning interest in photography. Coupling these skills with my background as a criminal defence lawyer, I approached the plucky and irreverent editors at Precedent Magazine and pitched the concept of a roaming criminal defence lawyer who writes about his world travels…thus, The Crime Traveller was born.

A unique head shot.I invite visitors to this blog to join with me in the conversations and share your adventures. I will be writing about my travels and how I prepare for them along with insights I have learned (and am continuing to learn) in amateur photography. As you can see, for now, this site is bare-bones but it is a labour of love still in its early construction phase. Tune back as often as you like to see how things are developing. For the easiest way to follow the growth of this site and my travel exploits, become part of my growing twitter following @CrimeTraveller.
