After a disastrous start to the phase III Olympic ticket sales, VANOC appeared to get their act together and dealt reasonably well with the massive number of people clamouring for 2010 Winter Games tickets last month.

However, it appears that the high demand and huge volumes are still wreaking havoc on the transportation grid.  Originally set to go on sale in late November, Olympic Bus Network tickets shuttling people from Vancouver to venues at Whistler and Cyprus Mountain were delayed until this week.  Although I was able to secure tickets for two different dates to the Whistler Sliding Centre, today’s attempts to grab my transportation to Cyprus have failed miserably.  The website appears to chug along indefinitely and then simply freeze at various stages in the process never completing the transaction and handing out a PDF ticket.

Anyone else experiencing these problems?  Let me know…and let’s hope this isn’t a sign of the impending chaos in February.

*****3:40pm UPDATE*****

After shooting off an e-mail expressing my concern to ClickAndPark (who run the transportation ticketing system for VANOC), I received a prompt reply enclosing a PDF of my paid-for transportation tickets.  So, while there still appear to be a few glitches to iron out, the powers-that-be are on top of things and appear ready to work out the kinks as quickly as they can.  LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
